In response to below : No. Article 15.3 does not give RD over-riding authority to change the rules. Of course Max said that but the whole world disagree with Masi. Almost all F1 pundits editors drivers teams lawyers and even bookies disagree. There is global outrage!! Even F1 investigated and fired Masi.13-03-2022 00:08

The issue is Race Director did not follow Safety Car Procedure by NOT unlapping ALL cars as per Sporting Regulations and precedent. Latest to speak out .. Binotto and Prost. Though they support Max but agree "safety car restart procedure is strange". Max supporters agree too .. Martin Brundle, Ralf Schu, Alex Wurz, Montoya, Alonso, Vettel. Jolyon Palmer deflected issue to "dithering". Almost all F1 pundits agree .. Mark Hughes & team, Peter Windsor, Marc Priestley, Driver 61, Anthony Davidson, Karun Chandhok, Nico Rosberg, Damon Hill. Many F1 drivers agree too. Lando (strange) , Ricciardo (f***-up), Sainz (strange), Vettel (strange), Alonso (trophy split into 2), Stroll (f***-up), Russell, Bottas. F1 journalists from ESPN US, Canada, Germany, Australia .. agree. Similar view by 3 leading international sports lawyers. Not to mention millions F1 fans. Finally even FIA agrees to “detail investigation and clarification exercise”.29-12-2021 04:37

To date only 1 person defended Masi with regards to "selected cars to unlap". Marko said "in the spirit of the sport" in PF1. Very lame justification. In this article .. of course Masi can decide to end under racing conditions but must follow Safety Car procedure in Sporting Regulation.26-12-2021 13:04

Today Binotto supports Masi over the year .. but stated he was wrong with safety car procedure. Sainz back Hamilton again. Team Ferrari agrees Masi is wrong. Are they Hamilton fans? Article 48.13 is a procedure after Article 48.12. "Interpreted literally, we can see that this is a procedure that should be followed to withdraw the safety car."26-12-2021 12:15

Marko/Horner should read this article "F1’s moment of shame at the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix" by Mark Hughes. A respected F1 journalist. Others include Johnny Herbert, Chris Medland etc. The issue is Race Director did not follow Safety Car Procedure by NOT unlapping ALL cars as per Sporting Rule and precedent. Not about Safety Car or red flag or wrong strategy. Max supporters agree too (Martin Brundle, Ralf Schu, Alex Wurz, Montoya, Alonso, Vettel). Jolyon Palmer deflected issue to "dithering". Almost all F1 pundits (Peter Windsor, Marc Priestley, Driver 61, Anthony Davidson, Karun Chandhok, Nico Rosberg, Damon Hill. F1 drivers Lando (strange) , Ricciardo "f***-up", Sainz (strange), Vettel (strange), Alonso (trophy split into 2), Stroll, Russell, Bottas. F1 journalists from US, Canada, Germany, Australia all agree. Similar view by 2 leading international sports lawyers. Not to mention millions F1 fans. Finally even FIA agrees to investigate. Though I feel just "marketing talk" but at least acknowledge that something is terribly wrong.26-12-2021 06:27

Article 48.13 does not override Article 48.12. They work together. Article 48.13 is on the following lap after safety car pits. Article 15.3 gives Race Director overriding authority over the clerk wrt safety car matters, if there is any dispute between RD and clerk. Not overriding authority to change safety car procedure in Sporting Rule. Chapter 15 exists to define the roles and responsibilities of officials, not how they should act. At least 2 International sports lawyers agree Mercedes has very strong case. FIA agrees to launch investigation because something is wrong.26-12-2021 06:23
